Shouhei Matsushita aka M-Swift was born in Hiroshima in 1973. At the age of 14 he started playing guitar and listening to soul and jazz. When he was 18 he moved to Tokyo and started a career as a guitarist, playing for diverse bands in clubs all around the city. In 2002 he started his production network called “M-Swift”. His first productions were released by Irma Records (Italy) and Flower Records (Japan), who licensed his songs to several compilations. In between he remixed artists like Yukihiro Fukutomi, Notenshun, Arcoiris, Apperitivo, Dome, Victor etc…
In 2005 he moved to London seeking collaborations with UK musicians and immediately got an offer from Irma Records to produce his debut album during his stay in London. For this album he worked with Vanessa Haynes, Marcus Begg (Restless Soul, Nathan Haines, Isoul 8), Nick Cohen (Incognito, Bah Samba). It was released in June 2007.
The debut single “Morning Light” featuring Vanessa Haynes was released in October 2006 with remixes by Notenshun and Nubian Mindz and the second single, “Kosmic Love” also featuring Vanessa Haynes, was released at the beginning of 2007 (with a remix by Tiger Stripes). Many DJs entered the song into their charts and the remix was added to a Roger Sanchez compilation album.

For his third single, he covered Aquarian Dream’s “Fantasy” in a house format with the remix of Spirit Catcher. Again DJs, such as Danny Crivit,  added this song to their playlists.

M-SWIFT’s live tour to coincide with the album’s launch saw the band in Tokyo, Hiroshima and Sapporo and was supported by Carharrt. The nine-piece band, with featured guest Vanessa Haynes, did a run of successful concerts and now Shouhei Matsushita a.k.a M-Swift is back in Japan and regularly gigging in clubs such as Club Air, The Room, Ageha etc…
